Belarusian fiction writer Sviatlana Kurs (pen name Eva Vezhnavets) has died in Warsaw at the age of 54. The news was announced by her family and close friends on social media.

In recent years, Kurs had been battling cancer.

In 2020, her novella "Pa Shto Idzesh, Voŭcha?" (What Now, Mr. Wolf?) was published, a work the author herself described as a "swamp fairy tale." The book was awarded the Jerzy Giedroyć Prize in 2021 and was translated into a number of foreign languages, bringing the author well-deserved recognition.

For several years during the 2000s and 2010s, Sviatlana Kurs worked at Euroradio. We mourn alongside her family and extend our deepest condolences to those close to her.
