A new air assault brigade is being formed in Belarus. It will receive the designation 37th and will be stationed near Homiel, 40 km from the border with Ukraine.

“A number of military units and subunits have already been formed, personnel have been drafted, and officers recruited. Planned preparations for operational deployment are underway,” says Aliaksandar Iljukievich, Commander of the Special Operations Forces, speaking about the new brigade.

By the end of the year, plans call for forming combat support, artillery, air defense, and reconnaissance units. The brigade will move to its permanent deployment location next year.

Belarus currently has three air assault brigades, located in Viciebsk, Brest, and Marjina Horka.
