The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus has issued an official comment on NATO's defense plan. It was recently presented by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Alexus Grynkewich.

The plan envisages that in the event of Russian aggression, NATO forces would strike Russian command posts and air defense facilities in Belarus, Russia's Kaliningrad region, and the area around Saint Petersburg. Drones and ground-based robotic systems are planned to be used in the process.

The MFA called these plans aggressive:

"Without any threats from Belarus, without real prerequisites for conflict, NATO is building plans to increase its military presence near the borders and to strike the territory of a sovereign state.
Under the cover of protective formulations, the bloc is effectively preparing the ground for military escalation and aggression."

The foreign policy agency claims that Belarus's military doctrine is exclusively defensive in nature: "We consistently advocate for openness, de-escalation and equal dialogue. We call on our Western colleagues to show common sense and begin joint work on restoring mutual trust".

NATO, for its part, naturally takes into account the fact that the territory of Belarus became one of the springboards for Russia's large-scale aggression against Ukraine in 2022.
