Anatol Lyabedzka decides to run for United Civic Party chair

Opposition politician Anatol Lyabedzka says he will run for the post of the United Civil Party (UCP) chairmanship for the tens time, reports the party's official website ucpb.org

The UCP will hold its Annual General Meeting on 8 July. As of yesterday, only three people - Vasil Permyakou, Hanna Kanapackaya and Mikalai Kazlou - announced their bid to run for the party No 1 post. 

Anatol Lyabedzka who has headed the party since 2000 said earlier that he would not seek his re-election this year. However, on 26 June the politician stated: " I am in the game. I am on the list of candidates. All the rest [will be decided] on 8 July." 

The UCP leader is currently abroad attending the Eeastern Partnership's Parliamentary Assembly (EuroNEST) session.
