A 27-year-old Belarusian woman living in Switzerland has gone missing. She has not been in contact with her brothers — former political prisoners — for over a month.
The young woman's name is Luiza Pipiya. Her brothers Tsimur and Tamaz were detained in September 2020 and convicted of "mass disorder". In spring 2026, they were released and left Belarus.
Luiza had left the country earlier. In 2022, she moved to Georgia and later to Switzerland, where her husband is from. Their son Mikhas was born there. The family lived in the city of St. Gallen.
In a comment to Euroradio, Tamaz said that he and his sister had been on good terms and kept in touch. However, on 23 September 2026, she unexpectedly stopped responding to messages on Telegram and ceased answering her phone.
According to Tamaz, it is also impossible to reach Luiza's husband. She has also stopped communicating with the mutual acquaintances they managed to contact.
It is now difficult for the brothers to go and search for Luiza. They have been waiting for documents in Lithuania for several months and cannot leave the country while their case remains under review. Searching for their sister in Belarus — where she could theoretically have gone — is even harder, as both Tsimur and Tamaz were added to a wanted persons database after their release and departure.
