Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya was denied an account at a Polish bank — due to her expired Belarusian passport. The leader of the Belarusian democratic forces spoke about this during today's stream on Euroradio.
"I know about the problems [of Belarusians] with document expiry dates. I myself was not allowed to open a bank account here, in Poland, after moving. I am just like all of you", she said.
Tsikhanouskaya added that Poland understands the problems related to the legalisation and banking services for Belarusians. They are being resolved, but slowly, as it is "not the top priority":
"Poland has many domestic problems of its own, and there are also Ukrainians and Belarusians. I don't have an answer to the question of when everything will happen, when it will become super comfortable for Belarusians to live here. But this issue is being worked on, and we have not forgotten about it."
