The honoured artist of Belarus, pop singer Iryna Darafeyeva, is going to run for MP. Her initiative group is collecting signatures for her.
She does not have a pre-election programme and will work on it after the signatures are collected, Darafeyeva told naviny.by. She wants to participate in the election ‘to change something in her life and in the country’s life’.
The singer commented on IVAN’s performance at Eurovision. It was not impressive, she said. Belarus’ problem is the fact that only the people who have investors’ support are usually sent to the contest, she thinks. If the participation in the contest were financed from the budget, the selection would be more careful.
Iryna Darafeyeva liked the embroidery shirt festival held in Minsk not long ago. She has many embroidery shirts, she confessed. The singer would also like to bring back the obligatory 75% limit for Belarusian music on TV and in the radio. It would encourage Belarusian musicians, she believes.
