ICC includes funding for investigation into Belarus in its 2027 budget

Lukashenka's negotiations with the US will not affect the position of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. This was stated on air at Euroradio by the head of the NAU and deputy head of the United Transitional Cabinet Pavel Latushka, responding to viewers' questions.

He recalled that the United States is critically disposed toward ICC rulings.

Latushka also announced: "For 2027, a budget for the investigation of the Belarusian situation has been submitted by the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. It includes funding for a prosecutor on the Belarusian situation. It includes funding for carrying out investigative actions. And in the future, this will be followed by the judicial activity of Pre-Trial Chamber No. 1, which will examine the Belarusian situation, including issuing a ruling on an arrest warrant, as well as taking measures to secure evidence, working with victims, and working with witnesses."

According to Latushka, the Office of the ICC Prosecutor will establish an investigative team to examine the Belarusian situation.

"This approach demonstrates that active investigation by the Office of the Prosecutor and the International Criminal Court into the Belarusian situation is planned. And in the future — even a judicial procedure that should culminate in the issuance of arrest warrants," the head of the NAU adds.

The budget must be approved at the next ICC assembly.
