Opposition activist Mikalai Statkevich on 12 December was detained by Belarusian guards at the Losha post at the border with Lithuania). His wife Maryna Adamovich wrote on social media Mikalai was handcuffed.

The officers refused to explain the reason for the detention and only said that they had been ordered to arrest him, she noted.

"Mikalai was asked to get out of the car at the border checkpoint Losha. He has been handcuffed without any explanation. Nothing is clear now. The car has also been stopped although they are saying that they ‘have nothing against’ me,” Adamovich wrote.

The politician was released without any explanations 90 minutes later. Nobody apologized to him.
