Belarusian human rights activist Leanid Sudalenka has called on French President Emmanuel Macron to achieve the release of Belarusian political prisoner, human rights activist, Nobel laureate Ales Bialiatski. And to do this, enter into dialogue with the regime of Aliaksandr Lukashenka, reports Radio Liberty.

Sudalenka sent a letter to Macron in which he spoke about political prisoners in Belarus (he himself is a former political prisoner). On July 2, he received official confirmation that the letter would be sent soon.

"I urge you to use your political authority in the international arena by entering into a dialogue with the undemocratic government of Belarus on the issue of releasing human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski from prison," Leanid Sudalenka wrote in an address to Emmanuel Macron. He believes that the release of Ales Bialiatski could be the beginning of the release of all political prisoners in Belarus.

In his letter to the French president, Sudalenka compared the fate of Belarusian political prisoners with that of five Ukrainians recently released from Belarusian prisons. He believes that this happened thanks to the negotiations of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and calls on Emmanuel Macron to follow his example.
