Belarus musician gets 9 years in prison for marijuana trafficking

Botanic Project raggae band front-man Klim Malazhavy has been sentenced to 9 years in prison for drug trafficking.

Euroradio reported earlier the 32-year-old musician was detained along with his fellow band members in late July. The police confiscated 40 grams of hashish and 17 grams of dried marijuana.

In a commentary for Radio Svaboda Botanic Project's singer Andrei Bahamolau who was present at all six court hearings said the prosecutors based the case on the testimony of onle one person - famous musician Kanstantsin Harachy. He was also tried and received three years of suspended sentence. The band's designer Sazonau was sentenced to two years of correctional labor.
