How much are Belarusians paid?

About 20% of teachers in the country earn less than 700 BYN or 220 USD. Only 13 people in this sphere can boast of a salary exceeding 10 thousand rubles per month (3,125 USD).   

Health care

Healthcare is another social sphere in which many Belarusians work - almost 265 thousand to be precise. The authorities also pay a lot of attention to it. For example, due to the large number of staff leaving the country, it was planned to increase the period of compulsory service for graduates who did not have to pay for their education.

One of the possible reasons for the lack of personnel is the low salary. Thus, the median figure in the sphere is about 1,300 rubles or 405 USD - one of the lowest in the country. About 70 thousand medical workers earn less than 1,000 rubles (310 USD) per month.

On the labor market medical nurses are offered on average up to 1,000 rubles (310 USD). Doctors receive more. For example, in the Baranavichy city hospital, an anesthesiologist - reanimatologist with 2 years of experience is promised 2,100-2,400 rubles (650 - 750 USD), while a surgeon - 2,000-2,300 rubles (625-720 USD) per month.
 

Agriculture

Here, too, the situation is not the best either. Out of 247 thousand workers, the salary of 45 thousand does not exceed the mark of 800 rubles or 250 USD. The average salary in the whole industry is equal to 1,300 rubles or 405 USD. 
 

Industry

This is the most popular sphere of economic activity, about 635 thousand people are employed here, the median salary is 1,736 rubles (540 USD). Moreover, in the mining industry the median salary is equal to 3,781 rubles (1,180 USD) - the highest indicator in the country.

At the same time, the data differ from region to region. While in Hrodna region the median salary in the field barely exceeds 1 thousand rubles, in Homiel region it is almost 4.5 thousand rubles (1,400 USD). And still, almost 80 thousand workers in industry receive less than 1,000 BYN or 310 USD).
 

Public administration

The average statistics for the country in this sector is hidden. However, it is published in the data by regions. For example, officials from the Brest region have an average salary of 1,820 BYN or 565 USD, from the Hrodna region - 1,796 BYN or 560 USD, from the Minsk region - 1,690 BYN or 525 USD. In total there are about 61 thousand of such workers in Belarus. 14 people have an income exceeding 10 thousand BYN or 3,125 USD.

Reference. The median wage is an indicator that divides wages in the country into two parts: half of the workers have a salary less than it, half - more. The data are published twice a year - for May and November. In Belarus, the median wage increased by 99 BYN or 31 USD for half a year.
