According to the Belarusian Change Tracker report, Belarusians' satisfaction with the country's situation is growing. But how is this possible?

Euroraio talked to sociologist Henadz Korshunau, one of the co-authors of the report, who explained why this situation is quite natural.

"This phenomenon was already noticed in the second half of 2022. It was created for obvious reasons," Korshunau is sure.

He explains that in the first half of 2022, Belarusians lived "waiting for the apocalypse": they entered the war, but this did not happen. They also waited for an economic crisis, but that didn't happen either.

And when they observed that Ukraine was no longer under threat from Belarusian territory, that Wagner had departed, and that the economy had not plummeted, Belarusians began to perceive an improvement in their lives. This shift in public opinion, as the sociologist explains, is largely influenced by these external factors.

'And then what? What can we expect? What other assessments of the situation?' This is all part of a predictable pattern, as the sociologist points out, which helps us understand the current state of affairs in Belarus.
